Troubleshooting

⚠️ Recording in 4K at 120 FPS causes my game's frame rate to drop.
Reduce the recording quality in the AKR Rewind settings by switching to a lower resolution or a lower FPS. Also, make sure your GPU is powerful enough to handle 4K 120 FPS encoding. Close any unnecessary background apps to free up resources. If the problem persists, try disabling HDR or Dolby Vision.
⚠️ Recorded videos are blurry or have artifacts.
This issue is often caused by a bitrate that is too low or excessive compression. In the AKR Rewind quality settings, increase the bitrate (~120k) to improve clarity. Also, make sure your hard drive has enough free space to avoid storage issues. Finally, check that your GPU is up to date.
⚠️ AKR Rewind isn't detecting my Xbox controller.
Make sure your controller is properly connected via USB or Bluetooth. In the AKR Rewind settings, check that the XInput option is enabled. If the problem persists, try reinstalling the controller drivers or restarting your PC. You can also test the controller in another program to see if it works.
⚠️ Uploads to the cloud consistently fail.
Check your internet connection and make sure it's stable. In the AKR Rewind settings, log back into your cloud account if necessary. If you're using a firewall or antivirus software, add AKR Rewind to the list of exceptions to prevent it from being blocked. Finally, check that you have enough available space in your cloud storage.
⚠️ The keyboard shortcuts aren't working.
Go to the AKR Rewind settings and check that the shortcuts are configured correctly. Make sure no other apps are using the same key combinations. If the problem persists, reset the shortcuts to their defaults or try a different combination. You can also test the shortcuts with another app to isolate the problem.
⚠️ HDR or Dolby Vision videos do not display correctly.
Check to see if your display and GPU support HDR and Dolby Vision. In the AKR Rewind settings, enable the corresponding option and make sure your operating system is up to date. If the problem persists, try disabling and then re-enabling these options. Finally, check the forums or contact technical support for solutions specific to your hardware.
⚠️ The built-in editor isn't working or is crashing.
Make sure your system has the latest Windows updates and GPU drivers. Close other resource-intensive applications before using the editor. If the problem persists, try reinstalling AKR Rewind or restoring the default settings. You can also export your clips and use third-party software for editing.
⚠️ The video files are not saved in the specified folder.
Check that the output folder is correctly configured in the AKR Rewind settings. Make sure you have the necessary permissions to write to that folder. If the problem persists, try choosing a different location or creating a new folder. Finally, check that your hard drive has enough free space.
